Baroque Betty

Baroque Betty is a dark, orchestral folk ensemble hailing from Eugene, OR. With lyrics replete with animal and nature imagery, and love lost but not forgotten, the music is reminiscent of a fairy tales more in the fashion of Grimm than Disney, with minimalistic guitar styling and soaring string-laden melodies (string arrangements by Julia Frantz, Alex Abrams, and Corwin Bolt) to accompany them.

Bettreena (Betty) Jaeger

Betty is a self taught vocalist and seasoned performance artist who has transplanted from Kalispell, Montana, and writes the entirety of her song repertoire. Known for her vocal versatility, Jaeger's artistic history spans over a decade of singing and touring for wide ranges of project genres, yet finds herself closest to home within organic minimalism and swooping orchestral ballads. Her lyrics are written with the whimsy of literary antiquity, with themes of grief, grit, and dreamlike dissociation from a sordid reality. Adding to her artistic versatility, she also graces stages across the Pacific Northwest as a burlesque performer, and produces The Wax Poetry Revue burlesque and variety show.

Alex Abrams

In 2016 Alex asked himself ‘can I turn my cello into a synthesizer?’ Ever since that moment he has been dedicated to bringing his cello into wild and unconventional places. With influences ranging from minimalist soundscapes to head-splitting walls of sound he creates a new and interesting textures to get lost in. His dog Marko has been voted best dog in the world 10 years running and loves to accompany Alex on his outdoor adventures.

Julia Franz

Violinist Julia Frantz has played fiddle since the age of five. Equally comfortable on the classical stage and playing with a rock band, she can be found performing with orchestras throughout the Northwest and bands throughout Oregon. In addition to Baroque Betty, Julia plays with Eugene band Mood Area 52, Scandinavian folk quartet Hostedans, and has shared the stage with everyone from fiddle legend Mark O'Connor to cellist Yo-Yo Ma. When assuming her classical alter ego, she is a member of the Eugene Symphony, Oregon Mozart Players, Orchestra Next, and Portland Opera Orchestra, and performs with Oregon Bach Festival and Sunriver Music Festival. Julia completed her Bachelor of Music at Rice University and her Master of Music at the University of Maryland, College Park. When not playing violin, Julia enjoys hiking and running with her border collie Sky Pilot, and cuddling with her two cats.

Corwin Bolt

Corwin Bolt plays orchestral double bass, jazz, bluegrass, and country music. His favorite color is purple and he has a wicked banjo collection. Corwin first started playing Betty’s music in her collaboration with Mood Area 52 on a Ballet Fantastique Production in 2021. On the side plays guitar with the group Meat Mallet, and hosts a weekly bluegrass jam.
